FIVE SIGNS YOUR HOME MIGHT BE MAKING YOU SICK

1.     You and your family sneeze a lot – and not just when you’re exposed to pollen outside. Mold and mildew in your home might be to blame.

2.     You can’t seem to kick that musty smell. A fragrant spray won’t fix your indoor air smell or quality.

3.     The basement or crawlspace is damp and you’ve got water stains in the bathrooms.

4.     Two words: stink bugs. They might cause more annoyance than physical illness, but leaky and inefficient homes leave plenty of avenues for pests.

5.     You need to run a dehumidifier in the summer and possibly a humidifier during the winter.

You don’t have to suffer in your own home. LEAP can help.

Water leaks, high humidity and poor air circulation can wreak havoc that might be visible in wood rot, structural damage and peeling paint. But the real problems – like indoor air quality – you can’t see but can feel. Healthy Homes Solutions:

·      Sealing leaky ducts and installing a properly sized and efficient HVAC system will equalize the temperature in your house and help prevent triggers for asthma and allergies like mold and dust mites.

·      Weather stripping and insulation make your home more cozy and livable.

·      When you seal your home up tightly, you also eliminate entry points for dust, pollen, insects, rodents and other pests.

·      A home energy assessment can help you identify health and safety issues in the home and prioritize the fixes that will lead to a healthier, more comfortable and affordable home.

Energy Efficiency:
Saving Money On Your Utility Bills Never Felt So Good

Is there a room in your house that you close off in the winter because it’s just too cold? Or another that you would love to use in the summer, but it’s just too hot and stuffy in there? Find yourself shivering near drafty windows or walking across frigid floors? Are you concerned about the health impacts of mold, mildew and dust on your family? Want to rid your house of that musty smell?

If you answered yes to more than one of these questions, you are not alone. Lots of homeowners right here in our local community have suffered through the seasons in poorly performing homes – but they don’t any longer.

And why should you? Your home is one of your most important investments. You deserve to be comfortable and safe in it. That’s where energy efficiency can make a huge difference that your family can breathe and feel.

“This morning I noticed when I got up I wasn't cold getting out of bed. Then I realized that I haven't been cold in the mornings since the weather turned.  The thermostat is set at 60º, where it always has been, because I am cheap.  Must be the insulation. Thanks. I like being warm.”
